who we are
About Us
Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson, who spearheaded the effort to fund, design and construct a senior center in West Mobile while serving as the District 6 Representative on the Mobile City Council, also successfully led the effort to establish the MRSCC Foundation in 2008. To honor her efforts, the center was renamed the Connie Hudson Mobile Regional Senior Community Center in 2013 by the Mobile City Council.
While the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for staffing, maintenance and the overall operation of the center, the Foundation provides community input, resources and fundraising support for capital and programming needs above and beyond basic operations.
The MRSCC Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors with assistance provided by an Advisory Board. Meetings are held regularly to discuss items of interest to the center, and funds are generated through fundraisers and donations from supporters. By working closely with senior center staff, the Foundation has provided resources such as furnishings, appliances, computers, an art room, pool tables, fitness center equipment and much more
